When Germany invaded Russia in 1941, it had some practical problems, one of which was the 19 M1936 76.2 mm F-22 anti-tank weapon that they had taken from the Soviet army, because the performance of the F-22 for anti-tank purposes relative to their own 7.5 cm PaK40 was poor. So the Germans decided to re-modify the F-22 to suit the use of the more powerful PaK40 ammunition. According to statistics in total, the Germans modified at least 560 such artillery pieces. PaK36 (r) has a modified launch system moved to the left of the barrel. According to actual combat needs, the artillery cannons are not only used as towed artillery with the rear gun mounts, but also many of them have been mounted on armoured vehicles such as Marder II. From 1942 to 1944, about 894 such self-propelled vehicles were in use.
