The airspeed "Hossa" designed in 1940 is a large transport glider for use by the British airborne forces. At the same time, it is also the main force of the British and US airborne divisions, so it has been continuously developed and improved. It can also transport jeeps and small artillery. But when the AS.51 "Hossa" Mk I is loaded with equipment such as jeep and artillery, entering from the side door of the glider requires a lot of manpower to operate, which is very inconvenient. Therefore, the AS.58 "Hossa" MKII type front fuselage is articulated movable splicing. The cockpit section can be adjusted to allow the equipment to be transported directly into the cabin. The front wheel adopts a two-wheel design and a new cable connector is installed on the front wheel pillar. The cargo floor of the "Hossa" MKII is also reinforced to prevent damage during landing. The aircraft has a fully loaded weight of 7,100 kg and can be towed up to a speed of 242 kilometers per hour. Usually, the towline is released when the aircraft glides and descends to a speed of 160 kilometers per hour. The production of "Hossa" reached 2,400 units and about 400 of them were handed over to the US airborne forces.
