F-14D Super Tomcat

Plastic kit from REVELL, for the asembly of an American aircraft of modern era, on 1/72 scale. Includes sprues with plastic parts, assembly instructions and decals.

The F-14 Tomcat followed the story of the "Cats" in the army. The F4F Wildcat and F6F Hellcat that fought for years before Tomcat appeared. In the late 1960s, the US Navy abandoned the TFX program and decided to focus on a fleet dedicated to fleet defense. Grumman had already begun developing the F-14 and had definitely considered the "Cat" designation. Admiral Tom Conolly was in charge of this project. The aircraft was named "Tom's Cat" long before the official name "Tomcat" was ever approved.
