Big Buffalo' is the third type of mine-resistant ambush vehicle (MRAP) developed by the'Protection Forces Company'. Its design concept is based on the very successful South African-made'CASSPIR' lightning protection vehicle, but it is larger and rebuilt from US 6x6 truck parts. It has a "V"-shaped car body that can withstand the impact of any landmine with up to 21 kilograms of high explosive placed under the wheel. Its armored hull can also withstand NATO-standard 7.62 small arms ammunition. 'Big Buffalo' generally uses its telescopic arm installed on the front of the car to detect mines and IED explosive devices on the ground. An external video weapon station also provides additional protection, allowing crew members to shield from the armored vehicle body and use the weapon station for launch work. More than 200 such vehicles are used by the U.S. military, and more are used by the British, French and Canadian forces. The newer "Big Buffalo" are equipped with grille armor developed by the British "BAE Systems". The fence-style armor can prevent the actual attack of the shoulder-mounted rocket (RPG). Part of this "big buffalo" surface also has a hybrid combination of fence armor and space, and the space armor was developed by FPI.
