Pkw.Kfz12 is a medium-sized off-road vehicle produced by German Horch. It was widely used in the German army as a transport vehicle for non-commissioned officers/soldiers during WW II. This car was produced by several companies from 1937 to 1943, including Horch, Auto Union and Opel. The PKW KFZ12 is a 6-seater car, powered by a V-8 Horch 3.5-liter gasoline engine with 79 horsepower. It can carry a weight of 3 tons and a cruising range of 400 kilometers. Non-commissioned officers often have a map table in the rear passenger compartment; ordinary soldiers’ transport vehicles do not have this equipment. The towing hook is a standard device, so it can tow a 700 kg trailer or small artillery. Models produced before 1940 had spare tires installed on the outer sides of the car bodies, while models produced after 1940 were modified on the inner sides of the car bodies. Due to the expensive assembly and maintenance of the Pkw.Kfz car series and the impact of the overweight body, the authorities cancelled the production of all models since 1943. Other models of this vehicle include the KFZ15 radio vehicle and the KFZ16 artillery observation vehicle.
