SdKfz.65t is one of a series of half-track vehicles developed by the German army in the late 1930s; it is mainly used for towing artillery or for various purposes. Sdkfz.6 weighs about 9 tons and has a loading capacity of 5 tons. It is usually used to tow a 10.5cm leFH 18 howitzer. In the latter part of the war, some 3.7cm Flak.36 anti-aircraft guns were installed on the rear cargo platform. This style was called 3.7cm Flak.36 auf Selbstfahrlaffette SdKfz.6/2. A total of 339 units were produced from 1941 to 43. All such vehicles were distributed to mobile air defense units under the Air Force to replace SdKfz.7/2. In combat operations they are usually used for air defense missions for armored forces.
