In the 1930s, there were many different types of half-track tractors designed and used by the German army.

They are very similar in appearance, the only difference lies in the different size and loading capacity of each model. SdKfz 6/1 is one of the medium-sized half-track vehicles, with a towing force of about 5 tons. Its main design and manufacturing are undertaken by Bussing-NAG and Mercedes-Benz car manufacturers. This artillery special towing vehicle is capable of towing a medium-sized howitzer such as a 10.5cm leFH 18 or an 8.8cm Pak43/41 anti-tank gun. Its body has three rows of forward horizontal seats, can load 10 artillery personnel and has a cargo loading bay at the rear of the vehicle. It has a total weight of about 9 tons, an average speed of up to 50 kilometers per hour and a sustainable walking of 300 kilometers. The power of the car is provided by a Maybach NL54 engine with a six-valve output of 115 horsepower. However, the production cost of SdKfz 6 was quite expensive, so from 1941 it was gradually replaced by cheaper and more efficient SdKfz 11 and sWS half-track vehicles. Its final production ended in early 1943. The total production of SdKfz 6 is 3,660 units.
