PanzerKpfw.II D is one of a series of light tanks used by the German army in the early days of WW II. The tank was built by the MAN automobile factory. The production period is from May 1939 to August 1939. It uses the Maybach HL62TRM engine and a 7-speed gearbox, so it is earlier than other II models. It has better speed and agility, and the body is shorter, wider and taller than other models. Type II D tried to use a similar US "Kisting" suspension system with four road wheels on each side, hoping to improve the tank's off-road performance. Although the car can reach a high speed of 55 kilometers per hour, the overall off-road performance is still not as ideal. Therefore, only 143 of the II D/E tanks were manufactured. The latter type II F was also replaced from the front in 1940. Some of the II D models were modified by Magirus to be used as Bruckenleger (bridging vehicles). The design is to install a simple infantry crossing bridge structure on the tank body. The Type II D bridge tank is one of the few successful examples of similar vehicles in service in the German army.
