With the needs of the war, the German army converted its old tanks into many anti-tank self-propelled guns. Marder II is this modified product. It uses the body of the No. II light tank, with protective armor and anti-tank guns and ammunition added to it. There are two options for this plan, SdKfz 131 and SdKfz 132, both of which use the body modification of the No. II tank. Production started in early 1942, when Wegmann produced 201 SdKfz 132 Marder II anti-tank self-propelled guns using IID/E hulls as planned. It is equipped with Soviet-made 76.2 mm M1936 anti-tank guns, and these guns have been modified for German 7.5 cm PaK.40 ammunition. The other SdKfz 131 Weasel II is to use the No. II A/C/F hull modification with a German 7.5 cm PaK.40 anti-tank gun. All the Marder II were sent to various fronts for use, but most were issued to the German Army and Guards anti-tank units on the eastern front.
