In early 1941, the German Army developed a new type of assault gun StuG III Ausf. Improved the durability of the front armor and simplified the manufacture of the car body. It is the StuG III Ausf C / D assault gun. The D-type uses the H-type chassis of the Panzer III tank. The shape of the upper hull is also changed. A loader hatch is added to the right side of the hull. The Germans then collectively referred to these assault guns as the StuG III Ausf C / D assault gun. . A total of 200 C/D assault guns were produced from May to December 1941. In the summer of 1941, the StuG III Ausf C / D assault gun participated in the first battle, and some assault guns were still in use until the winter. Even in 1945 when the German armored forces were severely lacking, the StuG III Ausf C / D assault gun was replaced with a long gun and was put into battle again. Some D-types joined the special equipment battalions of the Rommel Corps to participate in the North African battle. And participated in the tank battle against Tobruk.
