In 1942, the German army, in response to the need, removed the upper body and turret of 24 H39 tanks and refitted them with a German-made 7.5-caliber PaK 40 L/46 anti-tank gun, and installed a new upper part. Armor. These modified anti-tank self-propelled guns served with the 155 Artillery Brigade of the German 21 Armored Division in Normandy, France.
