Although the M3 "Stewart" light tank invested by the US Army in the early stage of WW II operates well, it is a pity that the body height and noise are too high. Such factors that are not conducive to reconnaissance purposes have not been corrected in the subsequent improved M5 series . However, a light tank with a new appearance was designed in 1943. It still uses the original M5 power system but has a brand new body and turret. Because the M24 is mainly designed as a light tank. The designer replaced the M5's original VVSS suspension system, which is very prone to noise, with a new torsion suspension system, and kept its weight at 20 tons. In terms of firepower, a lightweight 75mm cannon is installed, so that it can also use the same ammunition as the M4 Sherman. The M24 was well received by its crew, but it was a bit too late to debut at the end of the war. The M24 armor is about 25 mm thick, the road speed is 56 kilometers per hour, and the maximum travel radius is 161 kilometers. Production of the M24 began in the latter part of WW II, and a total of 4,731 units were produced. Later, its chassis was designed to be used as a variety of self-propelled guns and weapons loaded vehicles.
