The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) is a new ship designed by the US Navy to deal with high-tech local wars. The USS Independence (LCS-2) is a high-speed trimaran designed by Australia's Austel, with a high-speed cruising capability of more than 44 knots. The appearance of the hull is characterized by a newer radar stealth technology design, and a set of systems and sensors for comprehensive electronic warfare are installed inside. Its self-defense weapon is equipped with a 57mm rapid-fire gun and a set of 'Hiram' air defense system, can be equipped with anti-submarine helicopters and unmanned reconnaissance aircraft, and can be flexibly replaced with various functional modules. The design concept of this class of ships is small in size (2,784 tons) and capable of off-shore operations. The combat functions include secret landing and reconnaissance of enemy coasts. Its main power is provided by two LM2500 supercharged gas turbines produced by General Electric and two MTU 20V8000 diesel engines.
