The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS-3) "Fort Worth" is the sister ship of the "Freedom" (LCS-1), both of which were built by Lockheed Martin. This monolithic ship is used to compete with another three-body design LCS-2 for naval orders. Both LCS-1 and LCS-2 are designed for offshore operations and support larger combat ships such as LPD-class dock landing ships and LHA and LHD-class amphibious assault ships. This ship has a displacement of only 3,000 tons and is about the same size as a general destroyer. Its main task is to detect pioneers and attack hostile beaches. The equipment on board is a modular design and can perform different tasks in response to different needs. It is equipped with sensitive sensors and electronic warfare equipment such as 21 RIM-116 air defense missiles, two Bushmaster 30 mm and one 57 mm naval gun. The carrier aircraft are two SH-60 Seahawk helicopters and MQ-8 fire scout unmanned helicopters. The crew is 40 officers and soldiers and can carry an additional 75 soldiers with special tasks. The ship has a high speed of up to 47 nautical miles.
